4th June 2007 At a recent event delivered by Westminster Council to senior leisure representatives, Councillor Daniel Astaire, Cabinet member for Customer and Community Services announced that the free swimming programme that Swimming Nature have been undertaking was considered as the “Best Practice model” for all top up swimming programmes nationwide! The top up scheme is delivered by Swimming Nature to local state schools to help alleviate the problems associated with schools swimming not being adequate enough to ensure children achieve the Key Stage 2 standard within their school swimming lessons. The success has been phenomenal! In just one week of lessons with Swimming Nature, and average of 72% of students on the beginner 2 level can swim the 25m (Key Stage 2) proficiently and with ease. The recognition of the programme’s success is fantastic. We are proud to be able to continue the delivery of the programme over the summer holidays and into the2007/08 academic year.
